By Emily Randolph, owner of Happy Lady Books and an award-winning author of children’s books for luxury hotels and resorts, as well as the author of the ‘It’s a King’s Life‘ kids’ book series about very special, dog-friendly places.

Well, we know for us, it was love at first sight when we ‘discovered’ Carmel-by-the-Sea and the Cypress Inn, the most dog-friendly city and hotel we have yet to find in the US. We love it so much, in fact, we wrote a children’s book about it.

For the month of February, there is even more to wag your tail over with their ‘Puppy Love’ offer:

February 1 – February 28: Cypress Inn celebrates Valentine’s month by rolling out the red carpet for you and your dog!

Ahead of the curve, Cypress Inn was one of California’s first hotel properties to welcome pets in the mid-1980s and has since seen everything from parrots to pot bellied pigs check in for an adventure by the sea. Standard operating procedure includes concierges carrying grain-free all-natural dog treats and all of the Inn’s 44 crisp, contemporary guestrooms appointed with dog bowls, plush dog beds and in-room fireplaces.

Package includes:

• Deluxe Accommodations
• Daily Breakfast
• Tricks for a Guestroom Upgrade, Available Upon Arrival. Based on Availability
• Complimentary logoed Cypress Inn Collar Tag
• $20.00 food credit toward Yappy Hour or Terry’s Lounge + Restaurant
• Turndown of Lula’s Chocolates Dark Aloha Rocky Road

Starting at $199.00/double.
Two night minimum, based on availability.
Does not include taxes; blackout periods apply.  No resort fee. Reservations:   831.624.3871

Hope to see you there!

About the King’s Life Series

The King’s Life books are a travel adventure series about dog-friendly places.  The artwork is photography that has been digitally illustrated to look like paintings – something quite unusual in the children’s book genre. Dan Merchant is the artist and a professional photographer, who was published at a young age and has honed his colorful art skills over the years.  Dan is the chief illustrator of the King’s Life series, as well as a series for The Phoenician resort, which is also featured in the Holiday Edition of the King’s Life series.
