What a great day out with the dogs! We give high paws and high praise to the Desert Botanical Garden’s Dogs’ Day, which raised money and awareness for the Arizona Humane Society this past Sunday. We were invited by the gift shop to join the fun with several other vendors and to sign our new book, It’s a King’s Life: Holiday Edition, a Christmas romp that takes Happy, Lady and Lucy to the Garden, as well as the neighboring and very fun Phoenician resort. The dogs worked their little hearts out putting pawtographs in each book. Lady, ever the publicist, took to jumping on the table to attract a crowd. She was quite successful, as it’s a stony heart, indeed, that can resist her charms. We were also delighted to see several of our biggest fans. Thank you for coming out – you know who you are, and we love you.
The best part of the day was seeing many hundreds of dogs with their owners, enjoying a beautiful day in what might be our dearest treasure in the Valley. To meander the trails of the Desert Botanical Garden (DBG), taking in the thousands of plants and the wildlife they attract, is a slice of heaven. To do it with your dog, well, that’s the hot fudge, cherry, whipped cream and sprinkles on your Sunday.
Not surprisingly, this is a very well attended event, so much so, the Garden has increased the event to twice a year. The next date is in January (TBD), and you can bet your dog bones, we’ll be on paw to sign books and enjoy another indulgent day at the DBG. Until then, we just want to say thank you to the Garden for sharing its beautiful property with us and for giving us this incredible opportunity to share it with our canine BFFs.
