By Lady, the Cavalier King Charles dog star of the ‘King’s Life’ children’s travel adventure series
As many of you know, I’ve been trying for weeks to secure an invitation to The Phoenician for the signing of its new children’s book, Discover The Phoenician with Phoe-Phoe & Friends, celebrating the resort’s 25th anniversary. The event coincides with its famous Thanksgiving Brunch, to which I also hope to be invited. Forbes recently named it one of the top ten hotels to celebrate turkey day, so I’m pretty keen on going!
So, for this blog, I’ve pulled out all the stops and recreated the cover to this book, depicting a private picnic on the lawn in front of The Phoenician’s Necklace Lake – only it features me, of course, along with Charlie the bear, Tut-Tut the turtle, and the Funicians Club mascot, Phoe-Phoe the cottontail rabbit. And, I’ve given it a new title, as – let’s face it – it really is a king’s life, the very best, at this AAA Five Diamond resort. What do you think of my cover interpretation; pretty good, huh? This is the original:
All the animal stars of the book will be at The Phoenician’s Thanksgiving Brunch and book signing, including Snickers (who’s almost as cute as I am), a real-life, pet-therapy celebrity dog. The event will be helping Gabriel’s Angels pet therapy organization for at-risk children, and Snickers will be giving out pawtographs. Why can’t I be there, too? I could be very useful at the event. I promise to:
- Be a greeter
- Kiss all the children
- Entertain them with tricks (I do a mean twirl)
- Be a taster
- Pre-wash the dishes
- Recycle by taking home a doggy bag
I’ll let you know next week if I’ve been invited! Keep all your paws crossed. In the meantime, please cheer me on at:
