Why We Love Carmel

Pawed by Happy, Lady & Lucy, the three Cavaliers of Happy Lady Productions

Everyone in the know, knows that Carmel-by-the-Sea is the most dog-friendly city in North America. Arguably, it just may well be the most dog-friendly town on Earth!

From a canine perspective Carmel Beach is the best. One mile of sand, waves and no leash required! And all the dogs get along with one another (or so we’ve observed in our many walks/runs).

As we noted in our last post, GoPetFriendly.com recently polled thousands of pet lovers who voted Carmel the best place for pets. Another site, dogfriendly.com identified the three places they thought were the best of the best in Carmel: the beach is the best place to go (da!), the Cypress Inn is the best place to stay (oh, yes), and Portabella is the best place to eat. We agree!

A few other noteworthy places are pictured in our montage, above: Diggity Dog is the best place to shop for just about anything (especially their treats). Pebble Beach holds the Concours d’Elegance event every summer (but we get to run and run on the fairways… well, when no one is looking, anyway). Avant Garden is a cool shop to tool around. Best of all, they carry our book, It’s a King’s Life in Carmel-by-the Sea. Finally, nearly everywhere we go there is a bowl of water or some treats for us.

We love Carmel, and we can hardly wait to go back for another visit. It’s the very best place to sniff out adventure!
